Initial Assessment - Sunday, October 30, 2011 Sunnyside (class of 23), Teacher Mary Bierwirth (Mo) 17 of 23 students said they make art at school 22 of 23 students said they make art at home When asked what kind of art they had made before, students described: Manga, sculptures, charcoal drawing, watercolour, and drawing When asked what things could be art supplies, students listed: Anything in your room, sketchbook and pen, paper/pen/pencil, markers, paint, and paper (for folding) 17 of 23 students agreed that you could make art outside When asked if they ever learned other things or subjects through making art, students said: Buildings/art/architecture, learning about yourself, different cultures, history, science, drama, art therapy (it is scientifically proven that art makes you happy) All students agreed that you can make art with other people. When asked, “What is creativity?” students said: -your imagination -there are a few types, even just dabbing a little bit of paint -making something from scratch -anything you want it to be -anything that comes to mind
